Disaster Preparedness Badges Launched
Working in partnership with the St. Michael Parish Independence Committee, the National Scout and Venture
Scout Committees developed Disaster Preparedness Badges for the Scouts and Venture Scouts. Last month the
Chief Commissioner approved the requirements for the new badges which officially became effective on 1st
July 2018.
The requirements for the badges can be download here or viewed on the
Scout Programme page. It was agreed that
training received by Scouts and Venture Scouts before 1st July 2018 can be used to qualify for this badge.
The badges will be available in the Scout Shop by September 2018.
The development of this badge is one of the projects of the St. Michael Parish Independence Committee and it
is hoped that boys will qualify for this badge before the Parish Independence Committee’s final judging in
October.
In the near future, the badge will be further developed to include equivalent badges for the Beaver Scouts and
Cub Scouts. Also more in-depth requirements for the Chief Scout’s Award and the Queen’s Scout Award will be
developed. (2018-07-01)
